Reigate: Fishing line traps 'designed to injure', says police - BBC News

Several traps thought to be made using fishing lines found in a woodland are believed to be “designed to trip or injure humans and animals", Surrey Police have said.

The contraptions in Priory Park, Reigate, were set at various heights and were discovered last weekend.

“This incident had the potential to cause serious injuries and we would like to identify those involved as soon as possible,” a police spokeswoman said.

“If you come across a trap yourself, please do not touch it. But immediately report it to the police or the council.

“We can then advise you on what steps to take next.”

Police officers and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council staff are to continue searching for further traps in the area.

Anyone who discovers a trap or who has information is urged to contact the force.
